OVERVIEW
This is a summary of the investigations conducted at Toledo City Paper on December 18 & 19, 2004. The purpose of our visits was to determine if an unknown presence could be located in the building on Adams Street in downtown Toledo. Several different methods were used in attempting to verify the existence of any paranormal energy. EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), EMF (Electro Magnetic Frequency) readings, dowsing rods, photography, and video were all used in capturing evidence. Two of the investigators had a little prior knowledge of the events that have occurred in the building,
HIGHLIGHTS
Upon our arrival December 18th at 9 AM, we went upstairs and immediately picked up the smell of “roses” at the top of the stairs. The ladies worked as a team to determine where the “hot spots” were located. The office at the front of the building was identified quickly as a room with a “sad” feeling. This “sad” room has had a history of sightings through the years. The other front office was designated the “friendly” room. A dowsing “conversation” was held in the back storage room on the first floor between the ladies and an “entity”.
We met again at the building on Adams Street on the 19th. We attempted to have a “talk” in the “sad room” with the entities contacted the day before. Another series of question and answers was conducted by the group with the aid of dowsing rods. More of an effort was placed on gathering concrete evidence on the 19th. We set up two video cameras, one facing the direction of the front office and the other facing the back of the office. An investigator then moved from area to area taking photographs and recording EMF & temperature readings around the building.
EVIDENCE
Both of the ladies felt strong sensations throughout the morning of the 18th in various locations and had a good amount of dowsing rod activity in these spots. A series of questions was posed to the “entities” and answered by means of dowsing rod activity. One of the ladies asked the question, “Rose, do you have any brothers or sisters?”. The dowsing rods indicated a “no” answer and the cassette recorder picked up an unidentified “no” answer as well. At one point during the morning, an investigator tried to determine the first letter of the “entities” name by proceeding through the alphabet one letter at a time and using the dowsing rods for confirmation. As she spoke each letter out loud, the EMF meter would spike sharply and then return to its base line. A computer turned on by itself just outside of the “friendly” room while we were nearby. No one was close to the PC when this happened. Could this have been an electrical surge, or a “curious young boy”? No evidence appeared on any of the photographs taken and nothing unusual was seen on the video taken in the front office or elsewhere.
The evidence obtained on the 19th was a bit different than on the previous day. The dowsing question and answer session produced some significant results. It was determined that the older gentleman’s name was Maximilian and the young boys name was Wendell. This was accomplished by the action of the dowsing rods in response to direct questions and was witnessed by all involved. A “moan” was heard during the “talk” coming from the back part of the front office. A clanging sound was also heard coming from the “happy room”. Two people felt a breeze blow by the side of their faces while seated next to each other during the “talk”. The breeze was felt on the left side of their faces which means it came from the doorway towards the window of the room. Towards the end of the session, we recorded a significant spike in the EMF reading just as the group began to hold hands.
At about 10:45 PM, an investigator was walking by a printer in the office when it began to go through its warm up phase. The printer was turned off. At 10:56 PM the same person heard a whispering coming from behind the wall in the back of the office at the location where the ladies had felt “energy” the day before. The EMF readings in this area of the office are much higher than elsewhere and a temperature fluctuation of 4 degrees was also recorded. Nothing unusual was found on the cassette tape or the video aimed at the front office. Several “orbs” were recorded in the first two minutes of video from the back of the office. Some of these “orbs” were moving vertically and others were moving horizontally. One “orb” in particular, was moving diagonally and then changed direction and shot off the screen. At about 11:00 PM a dark shadow moved across the screen while everyone could be heard talking in the front office.
CONCLUSION
Based on dowsing activity and ESP, we believe that as many as four “entities” may be in the building. A nurse named “Susannah”, an elderly man named “Maximilian”, an older lady named “Rose”, and a young boy named “Wendell”. The nurse and the elderly man appear to be from the same time period but the older lady and boy are from different eras.
We have a small amount of Video, EVP evidence, EMF readings, and dowsing activity to support our conclusions. Various people present also heard a clanging, whispering, a moan, and felt a breeze blow by the side of their faces.
One of the most interesting aspects of the investigation was the absence of “orbs”. Many so called “orbs” are nothing more than air born dust or digitally created by digital cameras. It has been our experience that many photos taken in low light conditions or in a potentially dusty environment will show “orbs”. This was not the case in this building. None of the 46 digital photos taken showed any sign of an “orb”. The video camera focused on the “talk” showed nothing either. The only “orbs” that appeared in any form were in the first two minutes of video from the back of the office. This helps to enforce the fact that these “orbs” could be paranormal in nature. The fast diagonal and vertical movement of the “orbs” also adds credibility to their paranormal nature.
