Potter House

On Friday afternoon May 9, 2003 I drove to Bowling Green Ohio in search of the Potter House located on Potter Road. I found the abandoned house after a forty five minute search. The house is said to be the site of a murder-suicide in the 1970's. The father killed his wife and children and then took his own life. Since that time no one has been able to live in the house for long.
Objects fly through the air all around the house but mostly in the kitchen where the cabinet doors open and close by themselves. The voice of the murdered mother can be heard whispering after dark. A dark silhouette of a person is often seen walking across the farm field towards the house, sending those who see it coming running off in terror.
This initial visit was to find the house and take a few photographs of the exterior. I took several digital photos of the house and stepped just inside the front door and took several more. The kitchen is supposed to still have the blood stains on the walls. I could see a red stain on the kitchen wall from the front door but I had no intention of stepping into the house any farther than I already was.
I will be returning to the Potter House soon but not alone. This is not a location to investigate by your self, even in the day light. I am also in the process of investigating if a murder actually did take place in the house.
Several days later I contacted a Wood County public official who has lived in Bowling Green for many years. She was not able to confirm a murder took place in Bowling Green on Potter road. The official contacted the owner of the property and inquired into the history of the house. The owner who is an elderly gentleman told her that the house was always used as a rental property and that no murder ever took place in the house. He did mention that an infant died while living in the house in the 1960's.
The owner of the property became upset when the public official told him that someone was inquiring about the property. Does he have something to hide or is he just sick and tired of college students ransacking his old house? I will continue to gather information about the house and report back when I know more.
