Fort Meigs State Memorial is located on State route 65 in Perrysburg, OH.

General William Henry Harrison established Fort Meigs on the south side of the Maumee River on February 2, 1813. The fort encloses almost ten acres and includes seven two-story blockhouses, five artillery batteries, and various work and storage buildings. British and Canadian soldiers along with Tecumseh's warriors attacked Fort Meigs on May 1, 1813. General Harrison had a force of 1200 troops when attacked. After four days the fort received reinforcements and was again attacked for another five days before the attack failed. Having defeated the British, Harrison transferred all but 100 men from Fort Meigs and dismantled the fort. The fort reconstruction began in 1965 and re-creates the stockade as it was during 1813. There are four unmarked cemeteries located in the vicinity of the fort. The first is located near the Pennsylvania monument in front of the fort. The second is on the western side of the fort where a weeping willow tree is planted. The third is located somewhere on the eastern side of the outside wall and the fourth is an Indian burial ground near the river.

Visitors have heard footsteps, seen balls of blue light, and filmy human forms while staying at the fort overnight. Doug Dziama a freelance writer from Lorain, Ohio captured a photograph of a mist near blockhouse three where people see a woman and child looking out the window. Between blockhouses six and seven it is said the hair will stand up on your neck and people avoid that area after dark. Many have seen what they thought was a re-enactor in full dress who would vanish before them. The fort has so many ghost stories behind it that they put on a Ghost Walk during October. I visited the fort on Monday, October 21st with my son to gather first impressions. At the Pennsylvania monument I recorded readings of up to four on my Tri-Field EMF meter. This is the location of one unmarked cemetery. I also recorded readings up to three at blockhouse three both on the inside and outside of the fort. I had an uneasy feeling near the blockhouse as well. Readings of three were also recorded at the unmarked cemetery near the willow tree. I took many 35mm and digital photos at the site during our early afternoon visit. Based on the haunt history and our initial EMF recordings I believe further investigation is warranted.

On March 24, 2003 I visited the fort on a bright sunny day with temperatures in the middle sixties. I began the investigation at the Pennsylvania monument where a cemetery with unmarked graves is located. The investigation continued from the western end of the fort near the unmarked cemetery under the willow tree. Nothing unusual was recorded at either of these locations so I continued the investigation inside Fort Meigs. Blockhouses one and two were uneventful. It was at blockhouse three that the EMF meter spiked for the first time. I took several photos at this time one of these photos is included on this web site.  I snapped several photos of the eastern unmarked cemetery just outside of the fort. As I walked in front of the curator's office my EMF meter once again spiked and I took several photographs but nothing unusual could be seen on them. The investigation continued and I photographed the remaining blockhouses without incident.
I returned to the fort on March 29, 2003 to investigate the eastern cemetery area. The dowsing rods were indicating a large amount of energy in the unmarked cemetery. Almost constant clockwise spinning of the left rod as well as intermittent clockwise spinning of the right rod was noted. In addition, several times the rods would quit spinning and cross. This is the first time I have used the dowsing rods at Fort Meigs and was somewhat surprised by their constant spinning. No unusual EMF readings were recorded during this time and no unusual photographs were discovered.
